It is 1:45 a.m. here in Chicago and the EE BAFTA film awards have just been announced. The full list is available here.
Notables:
Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara of Carol, will not compete against each other with Mara nominated for Supporting Actress. Charlotte Rampling, 45 Years, was apparently knocked out of consideration for best actress by Maggie Smith for her role in The Lady in the Van. A terrible injustice in my opinion. On the other side of the coin I am glad to see Brie Larson named in the Best Actress category for Room. Ms Larson is also nominated for the EE Rising Star Award. Notably missing from the Foreign Language film category is Son of Saul . The only non-technical nomination for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hateful Eight is Jennifer Jason Leigh as Best Supporting Actress in The Hateful Eight. Thankfully Mad Max: Fury Road was not nominated for Best Film. We were saved that insult.
Remember Golden Globes Awards will be announced this Sunday and the Oscar nominations will be announced next Thursday. BAFTA will be announced February 14th with the Academy Awards on February 28th.
Like THE DANISH GIRL for Best Pix.
{Not personally, of course!}
And how about WILD, as a
“nice little walk in the park?”
Reese was certainly determined~~~
