About half way through this film I started looking at my watch hoping it would make its point and end soon. Then somehow it bought me back into the film and carried me to the finis. Reaction among viewers today was mixed from “average” to “loved it”. I was somewhere in between those. One definitely knew they were watching a Claude Lelouch film. He fits the auteur mold.
Music was beautiful and played an important role throughout. Camerawork was excellent. Close-ups bought out the emotions as the two protagonists bantered and teased each other. The movie was just too long. It needed to be a little crisper and pull the stories together a little easier.
