Below are my choices for the top 10 films. I followed the Sight & Sound procedure of not assigning any order. I had an additional ten in my original list and truly had great difficulty in narrowing the list to the allowed limit.
So, please share your choices for a top 10.
Bob Moss (Vibesmaster)
- AUTUMN SONATA (Bergman / Sweden / 1978)
- BICYCLE THIEVES (DeSica / Italy / 1948)
- BLUE (Kieslowski / Poland / 1993)
- CASABLANCA (Curtiz / U.S. /1942)
- DO THE RIGHT THING (S. Lee / U.S. / 1989 )
- I’VE LOVED YOU SO LONG (P. Claudel / France / 2008)
- PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE (Sciamma / France 2019)
- REMAINS OF THE DAY (Ivory / U.K. / 1993)
- SINGING IN THE RAIN (Donen & Kelly / U.S. /1952)
- VAGABOND (Varda / France / 1985)
That’s a great list.
As good as all the other 10 best lists I’ve seen.
For those who want a deeper analysis of the site and sound bowl, as well as a O Scott and Manola Dargis is 10 best lists, I highly recommend their article about the poll in the NYT

– Godard
-Ozu
– Semenbe (sp?)
