These overseas members are the new wild card in the voting process. An excellent example of the system at work, with nominations in both Best Feature and Best International categories, All Quiet on the Western Front is poised to take at least one of the awards and its push could carry it to both.
The Indie Spirits Awards have a truly diverse mix recognizing some of the non-studio films in both BAFTA and Oscar but also a mix of uncovered gems that were boxed out of the top categories at the major awards shows.
