Female Director Kelly Reichardt “Certain Women is divided into three sections — each anchored by a female protagonist, Laura Dern, Michelle Williams and Kristen Stewart.
To just label it as a gender oriented film, however, would be a mistake. There are a number of layers subtly presented. Adding to the “art film” nature of this production is the fact that it was shot on 16mm film.
Reichardt develops her characters well, yet leaving enough to the audience to think about. Is it just a chick flick? I don’t think so at all.
