Variety has published its first top 100 film poll. I believe that you will relate to this list a lot easier than Sight & Sound’s list. But ask yourself why. What is it about this list that gets you to relate to it?

Easier to relate to because, as Belinda says, people voted not critics. Any list that has Bridesmaids in it gives away the Hollywood “light movie “ bias. Sure there there are some of the most famous foreign films in it, but fewer than 20/100. And the rankings are wacko.
I’ll stick with the sight and sound Director’s list as my favorite of the lists. But all four list (including indiewire) contain enough great films to keep us all busy for a year — if we watch nothing new.
